Job Title: Hotel Manager- The Rutland Hotel

£40,000 Basic PLUS 15% Bonus. OTE of around £46,000pa.
Full Time, Permanent, 45hr Contract

Job Summary:

The Hotel Manager at The Rutland is employed to lead the accommodation specific teams and oversee all aspects of accommodation operations. The property has recently undergone extensive refurbishment at the start of 2024 and offers beautifully presented standards of accommodation in the heart of the city with enviable views of the castle.

This pivotal role encompasses strategic brand development, direct management of the reception and housekeeping teams, rates planning and recruitment of exceptional talent. Reporting into the property General Manager, this is a dynamic and entrepreneurial role that requires a passion for hospitality, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Reception guest experience

  • Manage the front of house team to ensure that the guest experience is the most important part of their roles. Great guest experience should be evidenced using online reviews monitored by approved 3rd party software.
  • Delivery of surprise and delight initiatives to elevate guest experience and sentiment.
  • Development and training on succinct service SOP to ensure consistency of service.
  • Efficient management of the PMS system to ensure that all incoming bookings and guest requirements are allocated appropriately, and guest requests adhered to.

Team Management and Recruitment

  • Lead the recruitment process for the reception and housekeeping teams, selecting individuals who embody our commitment to excellence in product and service.
  • Ensure all colleagues are given a 1 week, 1 month and 3 month probationary coffee chats to ensure strong on boarding levels, staff retention and standards.
  • Implement comprehensive training programs to onboard new hires and continuously develop existing staff members.
  • Manage team rotas, foster a collaborative work environment between departments, and provide ongoing support and guidance.

Housekeeping Team Management

  • Evidence regular, structured meetings with the housekeeping lead to help to foster positive working environment, impeccable standards of cleanliness and required due diligence reporting.
  • Maintain meticulous standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel, conducting regular inspections to uphold our reputation for immaculate accommodation.
  • Implement efficient housekeeping practices to optimise workflow and enhance guest satisfaction.

Financial responsibilities

  • Manage the team to ensure that all daily finances are posted and reported correctly.
  • Oversee the effective management of mini bar and drinks trolley stock and deliver an monthly stock take results that are in line with budget and accepted wastage tolerances.
  • Manage rotas for the reception and housekeeping departments 2 weeks in advance that reflect forecasted occupancy and represent a productive workforce.
  • Deliver dynamic pricing strategies for accommodations and amenities. Using the provided stayems of Lighthouse and Guestline, leveraging market insights and demand forecasting to maximise revenue and occupancy rates.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and market trends to ensure our rates remain competitive and attractive to guests.
  • Provide a clear revenue report every Monday to the relevant parties to highlight current and forecasted performance

Brand Development

  • Develop and execute strategies to elevate the Rutland Hotel brand, ensuring alignment with the unique charm and character of Edinburgh's historic city centre.
  • Drive marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and attract discerning travellers in line with our “lifestyle” brand.
  • Continue to develop the offer utilising the Quarterly Sales Plan to continually elevate guest experience delivery.
