Packaging Assistant

£22k-24k DoE per annum plus employee benefits

Cold Town is an Edinburgh based craft brewery. Established in 2018 our beer is now a popular fixture on draft in pubs across Scotland and rapidly expanding into the off trade.

To support our rapidly growing business, we are currently looking for a Packaging Assistant to join our fast-paced production team at Dunedin Street.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support the team working across all areas of the canning, kegging, and dispatching processes. You will be responsible for the setting up, maintenance, assistance and will help run all parts of our canning line, along with keg preparation and filling, canning, kegging and performing quality checks and tank preparation for packaged beers. The role requires quick and precise work, high diligence and thorough standards for quality, with an exceptional eye for detail.

  • Completing/overseeing canning runs on our 3000cph line.
  • Completing/overseeing Kegging runs on a one head Keg washer filler.
  • Testing (and tasting!)
  • Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping throughout the production facility
  • Ensuring production and stock records are up to date accurate.
  • Core working hours are between 6AM and 10PM Monday to Saturday with occasional Sunday working.
  • Your Key Reporting Areas will be
    • Ensuring compliance to the production plan
    • Managing losses, both of raw materials and liquid.
    • Maintaining accurate and effective stock control
    • Maintaining Compliance of Microbial and PhysChem specs

Key Competencies and Experience:

The role requires quick and precise work, high diligence and exacting standards for quality, with relentless attention to detail. A sense of calmness under pressure, is much desired, as is the ability to provide creative solutions to problems, A sheer love of maintaining a meticulous workspace, and productive problem-solving for minimising losses and improving processes is a strong plus.

You will assist in the Quality Assurance analysis before all packaging runs and ensure the immaculate presentation of all packaged products and accurate recording of packing data.

If you are deeply committed to sterile working practices and tidy workspaces, are happy to work on your feet, work excellently on your own and as part of a team, thrive on focusing attention on and gaining efficiencies in repetitive tasks, and have impeccable personal presentation standards.

Good numerical skills and the ability to work as part of a team and independently without supervision is required.
The role suits a friendly, process driven, disciplined individual with a passion for great beer and a drive to learn about brewing.

A full, clean, UK driver’s licence is essential, FLT certificate highly desirable.
